Incident Management
Incident Response Vehicle
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six SunGuide® Transportation Management Center (TMC) manages and operates the Incident Response Vehicle (IRV) Program to help in the clearance of traffic-related events that affect our roadway systems.
The IRV responds to all events along the 95 Express facility (within and out of the project's limits) and can respond to other District roadways on an as-needed basis. The primary objective of the IRV Program is to assist all responding agencies in safely reopening the roadway as quickly as possible to meet the 90-minute goal of Florida's "Open Roads" Policy.
The IRV vehicle serves as the FDOT incident command post with the IRV operator responsible for the coordination and communication between incident responders, the District Six SunGuide TMC and FDOT. The vehicle is outfitted with specialized traffic management equipment such as cones, signs, spill absorbent materials, roadway repair supplies and flares to be used for the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) to help ensure the safety of everyone on scene.
Each IRV truck carries specialized equipment including:
- Roof Mounted Arrow Board for MOT
- Spill Pads & Containment Pools
- 100 Traffic Cones
- Over 300 Standard Flares
- Roadway Repair Supplies
- Emergency Scene Signs
- High Intensity Lighting
- Brooms & Shovels
- Electronic Flares
- Spill Absorbent
- Extra Fuel
