Intelligent Transportation Systems
Transportation Management Center
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six SunGuide® Transportation Management Center (TMC) serves as the regional command post that administers the ITS program. It is located at 1001 NW 111 Avenue in Miami-Dade County, and operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
FDOT operations staff housed within the TMC help to plan, manage, operate and maintain program initiatives that are providing motorists with cost-effective solutions that improve their daily commute.
Through the use of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) devices that are deployed along the district's roadways, FDOT operations staff monitor roadway conditions through Closed Circuit Television (CCTVs) Cameras and roadways detectors, disseminate traffic information through the Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and 511 Traveler Information System, and coordinate with partner agencies to clear incidents through its incident management services, such as the Department's Road Rangers. Coordination with regional partners is enhanced by the collocation of the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) and Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Troop "E" within the TMC.
The SunGuide TMC was inaugurated in June 2004 and has been committed to improving our surface transportation systems since then.
